I’m so glad it’s OVER!  But at the same time I’m excited about January 7th and forward.  It will be much easier next time as I will eat veggies while juicing.  Psychologically, alone eating something will make it so much better.  Drumroll please….NOW FOR THE GRAND TOTALS.  I lost 15 pounds and my friend “Diedra” lost 12 pounds.  Not bad for ten days with no exercise.  When doing the “50/50 Life Juice” starting January 7th we will be adding in some kind of body movement with the juicing.  2013 may finally prove to be the year that we lose weight and keep it off.  I have to say, doing this with a “juice buddy,” a partner doing the exact same program concurrently, made it easier, more enjoyable and actually more educational.  We were able to compare notes on a daily basis.  We noticed some of the exact same symptoms.  At least we knew we weren’t crazy!  In any case this has been an overwhelmingly successful experiment.  The success has me for one, excited about this next year.

Now that the 10-Day’s are finished it’s time to start baking those wonderful Christmas treats.  I’m breaking out the big guns to bake in this year!

Day10

Until tomorrow…

Today is day 5 of my 10-Day Juice Fast.  Again this morning I woke up and I was asleep on my stomach.  I immediately noticed I didn’t feel quite as well as I did the previous three mornings.  I’ve also noticed that today I’m hungry.  NOT FAMISHED but yes hungry.  For the first time in over 4 days I’m truly hungry.  I’m hoping this is a passing phase as the lack of hunger has been the easiest part of doing this fast. Overall, I’m feeling much better than when I started.  After all, that is my goal!  Better health.  Weight loss will just be a bonus.  I will continue on my quest today and 5 more.  At which point I will step on the scale and we shall see what the weight loss benefits actually are.  If I were this hungry every day, a long term fast of 60 days or more would be much more difficult.  We shall see.

This evening I went to The Biltmore Estate with a friend.  During the holidays they have it open at night and all decorated for Christmas. It was truly amazing.  Also, they had musicians performing inside the house.  They were all very talented and it just made the ambiance that much nicer.

Most of the day I was hungry but again, not starving like on almost every single diet I’ve ever done.  My friend “Deidra” CHEATED TODAY!  Well cheated may be a strong word.  We had agreed not to weigh until after the ten-days were completed.  She however COULD NOT WAIT.  She lost 8.5 pounds in just 5 days.  She is so excited.  I knew the weight loss would come because the amount of calories we’re taking is so very low.  She wasn’t convinced, BEFORE TODAY.

Until tomorrow…

Had a great day!  Went to the gym and put in my time.  Then met some wonderful friends for dinner.  The dinner was to celebrate my 50th birthday.  However only one friend, Linda, remembered it was my birthday hence the insulting, I mean funny balloon.  She CERTAINLY remembered that we were celebrating and must have started before she arrived.  Boy was she celebrating.  Let’s see, my Mom,  Linda, Pat, Regenia, Kay, the other chick and Moya were all there.  I can never remember her name, that one chick.  Maybe it will come to me.  We had an awesome time!  Well an awesome time except Linda (the sister I always wanted) was completely and utterly out of control as-well-as embarrassing.  She about tore the entire table apart trying to sit down.  Then spilled her “beverage” all over the place.  We all love her and accept her just like she is but sometimes it can be challenging.  Luckily she wasn’t driving.

Anyway, I will not be going back to this place.  Which is a shame as the atmosphere screams mountain dining!  However between the overpriced not so good food and less than adequate service it is now marked off my list!  I’d rather do Subway and sit in my car by the river than be tortured like that again.  In retrospect I’m glad Linda put on a show!  So until our annual “White Elephant Dinner” in November I hope all my girls stay safe and healthy.  Even the one I can’t remember her name.  I think it starts with a L or something.

Tomorrow I’m off to Gatlinburg for the first time and am so very much looking forward to it.  On the way back there shall be some fall foliage pictures taken.  Assuming any fall leaves can be found up in the park.  Until tomorrow…

Spent the majority of the day dealing with my grandfather’s issues.  He was born in 1920 and finally had to go to a nursing home a few months ago at the ripe age of 91.  He’s being transferred to another facility tomorrow morning.  Seems like his inappropriate behaviors don’t sit well with the other residents, go figure.  He is a lifelong resident of West Virginia and is being transferred to a home in Ohio.  The only good news is the dementia is setting in so swiftly and seriously that perhaps he won’t know he’s not in his home state.  What I’m certain everyone will notice is I believe his behaviors will worsen as before he had family visitors almost five-days a week.  Now he’ll have none.  That is NOT going to help.  I couldn’t figure out why my panic attacks have been getting worse and worse over the past few weeks.  They are at the point again where they are keeping me from doing certain activities which I believe is the definition of debilitating.  Maybe, just maybe, they are caused from dealing with his issues.

Today I walked 1.9 miles.  The additional .4 miles was certainly felt.  Looking forward to tomorrow’s walk.  By the way, today was 10-11-12 all three numbers are consecutive.  Doesn’t mean a thing just pointing out the obvious.  Until tomorrow…

Lady was on point again today at the gym.  It’s refreshing that we can make each other laugh.  I was told by her “Bitch-a-visor” in training (a future supervisor) to make sure I let EVERYONE know they saved me $10!  Blah, blah, blah.  Back to me!  When I left the gym yesterday I was craving a sandwich.  So I picked up Subway.  The eating one meal a day actually started several days ago and until today I wasn’t STARVING, as I usually am.  I’m wondering if it was the nitrates and sulfites in the luncheon meat.  So, next week I will run an experiment.  Between now and then I will have no luncheon meat.  Next week I’m getting Subway (the exact same sandwich from last night) and then we’ll see if I’m hungry the next day.  Today I walked 1.51 miles on the treadmill and again felt like I could go further but made myself stop.  Tomorrow I will go further, how far is yet to be determined.  It really does make the time fly by, at least for me, when I’m completely entertained with watching “Breaking Bad” on Netflix.

As I left the gym this evening I was treated with yet another beautiful sunset.  Until tomorrow…
